UKRAINIAN PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS TO OCCUR
ON SUNDAY THE 26TH OF MARCH, 2006

This Sunday, Ukraine will hold its’ first parliamentary
elections following the “Orange Revolution”. Ukrainian
citizens will have the opportunity to elect members of
parliament to replace the sitting body which was brought
into power during the administration of former President
Kuchma. Many knowledgeable political observers view the
current parliament as one of the critical obstacles
President Yushchenko, who was swept to power as a
result of the Orange Revolution, has faced; meeting
significant opposition in completing his western-leaning
reforms during his first year in office.

The Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (“UCCA”)
has organized the largest delegation of international
election observers from the United States who have been
accredited by the Ukrainian Central Election Committee.
The vast majority of these observers will be assigned to
election districts in Ukraine; however, recognized UCCA
observers will serve at voting polls in Washington, DC,
New York City, Kent, Washington and Chicago.

The Illinois Branch of the UCCA will have observers
monitoring the entire election process at the Ukrainian
Consulate at 10 E. Huron Street, Chicago from before the
voting begins at 7:00 AM until the very early hours of the
next morning as the voting results will be tallied, certified
and reported to the Ukrainian Central Election Committee.

In addition UCCA volunteers will participate in various
election logistics including manning transportation shuttles
from the Ukrainian Cultural Center, in the heart of the
Ukrainian Village to the Consulate, checking passports
and voter registration, crowd control as well as providing
coffee for those who will be queuing up to vote.

For on-site contact the day of the election you can reach
Orest Baranyk, UCCA President or Paul Bandriwsky,
UCCA Vice President.
