Superior St. Chicago, IL 60612 Time = 12:30 brunch; 1:00 presentation Discussion with Ambassador Steven Pifer Have the recent elections in Ukraine signaled the end of the “Orange Revolution” and the return of “Ukraine Fatigue” in Washington and the European Union? Steven Pifer, former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, will discuss the political and economic developments in Ukraine and their impact on Western views and future economic assistance. Most of all, he will outline measures the new Ukrainian government must take to encourage Western support, aid and investment. Ambassador Pifer is a visiting fellow at the Brookings Institution, where he focuses on arms control, Ukraine and Russia, and a nonresident senior adviser with the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Previously, he served for more than 25 years with the State Department, where he was a deputy assistant secretary of state, and also had postings in London, Moscow, Geneva and Warsaw, as well as on the National Security Council.
