| Description: |
The Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art welcomes an exhibition of paintings from Ukrainian/Chicago artist, Anatole Kolomayets. Born in the Poltava region of Ukraine, Kolomayets (b.1927) relocated to Chicago upon graduation from the Royal Academy of Arts in Liege, Belgium, 1954. He has since firmly established himself as an artist in Chicago within the international community. His work was shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions. He was one of the founders of the Ukrainian Artists’ Group “Monolith”, active in Chicago 1954-1958. Kolomayets is foremost a colorist, though traces of artistic influence from his background of travel and education abroad are apparent in the diverse combination of styles within which he works. This exhibition will focus on a selection of works from the last two decades. Anatole Kolomayets has had numerous individual exhibitions in Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Toronto, New York, Los Angeles and Denver. He has also participated in group shows throughout the U.S. and abroad, and was named Merited Artist of Ukraine by President Yushchenko in 2007. The Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art is delighted to welcome Anatole Kolomayets for his first showing within our walls. 2320 W. Chicago Avenue Chicago, IL 60622 (773) 227-5522 www.uima-chicago.org |
